Crazy. Loud. Goofy. Clever. These words describe our first club meeting.
First, we brainstormed our group norms - how we want to behave online. We have a lot of experienced Minecraft players and we had to talk a lot about finding a balance between gaming culture and school culture. Despite lots of debate, we finally came to some agreements.
We gave out the user names to those who don't own their own, but unfortunately, we couldn't remember the server IP!!!
We tried to contact Prax, but he wasn't at his school.
The other players decided to handle it themselves, by starting several LAN parties. I didn't get invited to any of the LANs (but then again, I was busy problem-solving and dealing with technical issues). I can hardly wait to hear exactly how people spent their first Minecraft Club meeting.
** Note: for the 2013-14 year, we will have three separate groups in the club. Each group will be part of the club for three months.

Wow, am I behind on my entries or what??? Today was our last day for the Intermediate version of our Minecraft Club. We started by working on our "behind the scenes" YouTube video of our CBC interview. The members and I went through the clips and chose the ones we wanted, but Sociagrim's account didn't have enough room for us to work on it in iMovie. I grabbed the files so that I could continue their work later.
Today, people did different things. They finally invited me to play! Some of us went through the survival portal and did some playing there. Afterwards, most of us headed to the PvP zone for some more battles. I jailed my first player, because he was killing people outside of the PvP zone while we were exploring the survival world. I didn't like doing it, but the player was trolling pretty badly and we had already given a verbal warning. Pondergrim taught me how to check the owner of a building. We found a diamond building in the survival area and I was curious about who built it. If I type /co i, after hitting a block on the building, I get the identity. Thankfully, some of our non-trollers will get a chance to help other people learn Minecraft, like Terragrim and Icecreeper, who taught a teacher and a vice-principal from another TDSB school how to build.

Liragrim Int and Liragrim Jr are connected it seems! Anyway ...
Today I checked our wiki entries to guarantee that people earned their time to play. Please remember, Grims and other Macphail members, to put the DATE on your entries and don't put your entries in the comment section.
I'm listening in and watching people play today. Two of our players are in single player worlds, because they find the multi-school server laggy and/or they can't get on the launcher higher than 1.52. Many people are in PvP. Someone is thinking about making their own PvP zone because they want to use their own diamond armour when they battle. Some people are lost in the nether. Someone went to ask the others about how to build tools from wood.
In my own action, I wandered around the community build area to see if people made things. Someone made a huge portal but I haven't explored where it takes me. I need to learn how to build a portal for one of our new schools that has joined the group, but everyone else is too busy having fun on their own projects to help me build one. That's okay.

Wow, I haven't written on here in a long time. Don't worry - I do a lot of my writing on GamingEdus!
Today was the last day of our Thursday January February group.
I announced it on Twitter because I'm so happy - I/we regained control of the Artagrim account! I lost control during Summer School in 2014 and I never had the time to try and figure out how to get it back. My awesome Minecraft Tech Assistant (who usually spends a lot of time checking this wiki or downloading the game on new computers or trouble shooting for other players) decided that it was time for us to seriously research how to do it.
My assistant did the Reset Password request on minecraft.net and I found the email address I had linked to this account.
Thankfully I didn't have to go to the extreme stage of providing my gift redemption code to prove I was the rightful owner.
Today was a lot of fun because I finally got to play without interruption - usually I'm interrupted so regularly that I don't get time to have fun with the players.
First, we played a massive PVP campaign. Our recovered Artagrim (our Minecraft Tech Assistant got to play Artagrim for the rest of the time as a reward for saving Artagrim) is a PVP master, and even with 3 vs 1, Artagrim kept beating us! Then, the other players joined us, and when we were playing 4 vs 3, it was a even greater defeat. Artagrim said we played well (my team was Persplat, Dersplat and me, Liragrim) but I think Arta was just being nice.
Then we calmed down a bit by fishing together. I caught several puffer fish, salmon, and regular fish. Artagrim caught an enchanted bow and string. Dersplat caught 10 salmon and leather. Dersplat caught lots of fish. No one wanted to leave or even stop playing to write. It was a great end to a fun two month session!
