First time playing minecraft was awesome! I started out by doing all the basics, collecting wood, making a crafting bench then i continued to craft some important tools such as a sword, a pickaxe, and an axe. Later on i went looking for sheep so i could skip the night time and avoid the creepers, zombies and spiders. I clearly had no luck at all!
I eventually gave up and went on to mining, i found iron! But another member reminded me that i had to get a cobblestone pickaxe instead of a wood pickaxe since the wood won't work. On my way back to the house i made, a creeper blew me up and i lost almost all of my things!
When we finally started playing multiplayer, i started out by looking for the grim house after i would say, about 3 or 4 days i found it with the helpful torches placed on the ground pointing towards the house. I collected plenty of wood then sadly lost it all by getting killed from a giant mob of spiders, zombies, and skeletons.. After a few more attempts to get wood and start a house (but sadly failed) i finally got the hang of it and got plenty of wood so i started working on a house that's across the grim house. I crafted a chest and a crafting table to get started. I'm still hanging around the grim house since my house is not completely finished. My house is still missing it's roof and torches to put around the outside. I wouldn't risk getting wood at night so i usually collect it in the morning and build at night.
Another day to work on my house, which is made out of refined wood. My house is pretty empty, but it has everything I need right now including a furnace, workbench/ crafting table, and a large chest. I have recently added a new feature to my house which is a basement/mines. So at night, i won't have to risk wondering off and getting killed and not knowing where i was so i can't get my stuff back i mine at night and collect wood and other things outside in the morning.

That sounds really cool! I hate creepers, though. Especially when I get killed by them -.-

I didn't know that a wooden pick wouldn't work on iron. I always thought the pick would just degrade faster. Huh. Guess I won't try mining iron with a wooden pick. I wonder if the same goes for gold. In real life gold is a 'soft' metal; I wonder if that is true in game too.

its not true you still need a iron pick to get gold. gold isn't very useful either only to make golden apples

So what's the big deal about a golden sword then? (Sociagrim, tell us more about your first multiplayer experience! Tell, tell!)

Glad the torch arrows helped you find your way! You are always welcome to stay in the Grim House 'til you get your new place together. I find day crafting so much safer as well. Do you plan on sharing your house with anyone? I know Calca and Arta are sharing, and Helly, MC and Ath are cohabitating too.
